Carbon Fiber VTOL Fixed Wing Drone Frame Vertical Takeoff UAV Airframe For Mapping Survey

Carbon Fiber VTOL Fixed Wing Drone Frame Vertical Takeoff UAV Airframe For Mapping Survey
Details:
A carbon fiber VTOL fixed-wing airframe that gets the aerodynamics right where it matters: a CFRP spar carrying wing-bending loads, a molded composite skin that stays thin, and a root stress plate that keeps concentrated transition loads from cracking the tube. Built for mapping and survey teams who need multirotor convenience and fixed-wing range.

1. Core Advantages - Three Structural Hard Problems

Problem 1: Transition loads spike where hover meets forward flight. The moment the aircraft tips from vertical hover into wing-borne flight, the wing roots and vertical motor pods see their highest transient loads. We size a CFRP main spar through the full span, add a secondary spar to prevent wing rotation, and bond a molded CFRP root stress plate to spread the concentrated load - the standard fix for spar-root fracture in VTOL wings.

Problem 2: The wing skin must be thin, stiff and foldable. Aerodynamic surfaces want minimum thickness; structure wants stiffness. We use a molded composite skin over a CFRP tube spar, with folding wing sections for transport and VTOL stability - light in flight, compact on the roof of a survey truck.

Problem 3: Payload and battery must sit where the CG wants them. Mapping cameras, LiDAR and battery packs change the balance. We size the payload bay and battery bay around your equipment list, so the aircraft stays near its design CG after integration - not trimmed out in flight.

The payoff: wing-borne cruise delivers hours of mapping coverage where a multirotor gives you minutes - at ~17–22 m/s cruise on the airframe class you choose.

Airframe class reference:

Class Wingspan MTOW Payload Endurance (typical)
Light mapping ~2.2 m <7 kg 1–2 kg ~1 h class
Medium survey ~2.9–3.5 m 23–32 kg 5–10 kg 2–3 h class
Long-endurance ~4.2 m+ 35 kg+ 10 kg ~6 h class

Typical industry values; locked from your mission profile, measured sample and batch reports.

3. Customization - Mission-Profile-Driven Sizing

Tell us the job, we size the airframe:

Mission inputs: mapping area per flight, camera/LiDAR model, cruise speed, required endurance, operating altitude.

Our output: recommended wingspan, MTOW, payload bay dimensions and CG layout - before any tooling is cut.

Options: folding wing, quick-assembly tail, custom pod geometry, protective transport case.

Files: STEP/DWG accepted; DFM review on stack-up, fold kinematics and CG envelope.

4. Company Advantages

We make the thin-wall hollow parts that fixed-wing airframes are built from.

CFRP tube spar expertise. Main and secondary spars formed to span and load requirements, not bought off the shelf.

Molded root and pod parts. Vacuum-bagged/autoclave laminates for skins, root plates and pods - consistent across reorders.

One factory for sheet, tube and CNC. Material batch traceable; inspection report ships with the airframe kit.

Our boundary. We build the airframe structure. Aerodynamic tuning, flight control, transition-logic validation and airworthiness are the integrator's job - and we'll say so when the question comes up.

5. FAQ - Selection Questions

Q: How do I choose the right wingspan / MTOW? From your mission profile - mapping area, payload weight, required endurance. Send the equipment list; we recommend the airframe class before you commit.

Q: Can the wing fold for transport? Yes - folding wing sections are standard on long-span airframes; sized for truck-roof transport and fast field setup.

Q: How is the payload bay and battery bay sized? Around your camera, LiDAR and battery dimensions, with CG balance checked in the layout stage.

Q: What endurance should I plan for? Typical classes run ~1 h (light electric), ~2–3 h (medium), up to ~6 h (long-endurance/hybrid configs). Final numbers depend on your powerplant and payload.
