A cured carbon tube looks solid until you put a standard HSS bit near it. Inter-layer delamination, burn marks, and frayed bores are the default outcome. The part goes into a drone arm or drive sleeve and cracks at the joint under load.
Our approach on the CNC deck:
Dedicated tube fixture holding concentricity, no floating
Diamond-coated or PCD tooling sized to wall thickness
Step-drill entry to crush less fiber on break-through
Compressed air extraction during cut to keep heat off the matrix
We cut end angles, counterbores, and slot patterns in one setup. The bore seats cleanly on the mating shaft with no post-sand. If your last batch arrived with fuzzy edges and you had to ream every hole, the gap was never the tube , it was the cut.
